MMEA NORTHEASTERN DISTRICT
SENIOR FESTIVAL
Sign-ups are now underway for the Northeast District Senior High Choral Festival auditions. Your successful district audition and participation in the Northeastern District Festival Chorus qualify you to audition for All-State Chorus. Both festivals are terrific experiences: a way for you to connect with other outstanding high school singers, perform great music and learn from guest conductors. The All-State Chorus performs each year at the MMEA (Massachusetts Music Educators Association) Conference at Symphony Hall in Boston. As this choir represents the best of the best high school singers in the state, it is quite an experience!
Senior District auditions are held on Saturday, November 18 at North Andover High School (transportation is provided by LHS). For the audition, you will prepare a choral piece, I Will Be With You (Sarah Quartel). There is also a sight singing component to the audition. Sheet music will be provided by Mr. Iannuzzi. At the audition you will sing to pre-recorded MIDI tracks "minus one" (all parts but your own). These mp3 files are available for reference and practice on the Northeastern District site linked below. You will be expected to prepare notes and rhythms for this piece outside of school. We will also rehearse several times after school in preparation for your audition. You are expected to attend some of these run through rehearsals.
