MMEA NORTHEASTERN DISTRICT
JUNIOR FESTIVAL - auditions are currently closed
Sign-ups are now underway for the Northeast District Junior Choral Festival auditions. This festival is a terrific
experience: a way for you to connect with other outstanding singers, perform great music and learn from guest
conductors. For this festival, treble and bass voices are separated into two choruses: an SSA Girls Chorus and
an SATB Boys Chorus (with changed and unchanged voices).
Junior District auditions are held on Saturday, February 1 at Tenney Middle School in Methuen (transportation is
provided by LHS)--AUDITION SNOW DATE IS FEB. 8. For the audition, girls will prepare a choral piece,
Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening and boys will prepare All Ye Who Music Love. At the audition you will
sing to pre-recorded MIDI tracks "minus one" (all parts but your own). These mp3 files are available for
reference and practice on the Northeast District site linked on our website. You will be expected to prepare
notes and rhythms for this piece outside of school. We will also rehearse several times after school in
preparation for your audition. You are expected to attend some of these run through rehearsals.
If you are interested in auditioning, please fill out the form below NO LATER THAN Wednesday, December 4 at
3pm. Your signing up on this list reflects a commitment to follow through with auditions and, should you be
selected, the festival. Please check the dates below against your calendar. This audition has a $15 registration
fee for which you are responsible.
